I'm a Boat US member and would like to upgrade my towing. Let me know if you get a rate.

My BoatUS is up on the 31st so I want to renew today or tomorrow. I have a question on the code. I can't be certain if it begins with GAB (all letters) or GA8 (2 letters and a number) and ends in the number 8 or a capital letter B. It's impossible to tell the difference on my screen. Help! Hy

Hy,

From Coop's March 2014 note: "Coop Group #GA85122B, as always"

It starts with GA"eight" and ends in 122"bee"... One of these days we may see water vs. ice in the Midwest!?!? I think the last I heard was the Great Lakes got to 93% coverage... Nowhere near launch wx yet! Hard to think over the last 5yrs I use to be in the water the first week of Apr! We did tell the marina when we hauled last fall that we weren't in a hurry this year (never really did much in Apr in the past)... But it will be interesting to see when they can actually start any launches on Lake St Clair with all the ice still there!!!

Thanks for the help on the letters vs. numbers. No one's really preparing to launch yet around here even though all the ice is gone; it's just too darn cold. Today's temp was supposed to hit 45; it's 43 right now (3/19, 4:00 PM) but the wind-chill is much lower. It's supposed to be 53 tomorrow and then back to 32 by Sunday! What a winter. Oh, yeah, tomorrow's spring. Happy Spring, everyone. Hy

I renewed my BoatUS membership this morning using the group code. The membership dropped from $24 to $15, but the towing remained the same at $125. Oh well, I'll take any discount I can get. Thanks for the info. Hy

just renewed my boatUS membership using the group code. The dues went from 24.00 to 15.00 and the unlimited towing was 96.00. the 96 seems lower than I remember but I'm not complaining! I just used the money saved to buy some boatUS gear.

FYI - The unlimited towing insurance is worth every penny. I think it's $143 for the BoatUS membership AND the towing insurance. I think they will even reimburse you if you have your boat towed from your home marina to a boatyard (for repairs).

Must be you'all are buying the Gold package. I just bought 100% towing coverage for Great Lakes (from anywhere back to my marina) for $43. Of course my marina is full service so I don't need a tow to a boat yard. I did use the code and i am already a member. .

Not "Gold", just "Unlimited" - it's $125, plus $15 for the BoatUS membership. $140 total. Fortunately I've never needed a tow, but I think the starting price for a tow is $400-$500 for a basic tow home. If you're on the beach (aground - it happens a LOT here on the gulf coast), it would go up exponentially I'm sure. The gulf waters shoal and shift a lot, and is generally pretty skinny all over.

Anyway - BoatUS is a good organization, and their WestMarine affiliation allows for some decent discounts/savings. Happy we can provide the little discount for our members!

I boat on the Chesapeake bay and have been a boat us member for many years. I don't know if it has anything to do with pricing, but it cost me only 96.00 for the usually 125.00 unlimited towing and 15.00 for membership instead of 24.00. I just renewed last week and used the group number from this page.
